If a piece of content has been added/reused on an HTML page in the dotCMS, a “References” tab will appear while editing that piece of content. The References tab (see image below), displays a running list of the HTML pages where the content has been placed.
Before unpublishing or archiving a piece of content, content managers should examine the references tab to ensure that the content is no longer needed or relevant on ALL HTML pages where the information is currently displaying to the public.
